Group plans search for missing Henderson man
By Marco Villarreal
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV)- A volunteer group is now getting involved in the search for a missing Henderson man. Family reported him missing after he never left for the vacation he was scheduled to take.
For now it's the planning of a massive search to happen this weekend, and although police say there is no evidence of foul play, those who saw him last say there is something very strange about the visit to his regular bar.
"I think that there was something shady going on, definetly," says Chelsea Bedell, a bartender at Lucky Joe's Saloon.
Mark Hudson disappeared nearly two weeks ago. The 28-year-old was scheduled to go on a cruise, but the bartender who last saw him says the night of June 8, 2012 Hudson was not himself.
"It was very wierd. It really was wierd. The whole thing was wierd. I thought it was wierd even at that moment," says Bedell.
She says he disapeared through the back door, but not after sitting next to a friend from work, and a mysterious third stranger who sat next to Hudson in an almost empty bar.
"Third guy stood at the door waiting for him," says Bedell.
Now volunteer group Red Rock Search and Rescue is stepping in to do what they can for his family.
"This is our first exposure to it. We're just out here doing some recon work right now," says Dana Richardson.
Red Rock Search and Rescue says that come Saturday morning they're going to have volunteers searching through ravines in the area in case Mark came stumbling out after he left the bar.
With 300 volunteers, 150 of them trained in search and rescue, the group hopes to get answers; even if it's where Hudson is not. Friends say they are glad for the help, but wish it had come sooner.
"If he is two miles away from here and no one has found him because no one went out looking for him, it's going to make me mad," says Bedell.
Investigators have indicated there's no proof Hudson ever actually booked, or paid for, the alleged cruise he was supposed to go on. Anyone with any information is asked to call Henderson Police at (702) 267-5000 or (702) 267-4750
The search is planned for Saturday morning. More information can be found:
