Kayla Chadwick Vanished After Fight With Boyfriend -- Where Is She? April 11, 2012 Seventeen-year-old Kayla Chadwick has been missing for around two weeks now and her story is just starting to get headline attention, but is it too late? The young Fort Morgan, Colorado woman has garnered the attention of Nancy Grace, but with so few details in the case there might be little hope unless the people who know her come forward with details that can lend to the investigation. It's reported that Kayla Chadwick disappeared after arguing with her boyfriend. However, the name of the young man or his age. The location of her disappearance, on the other hand, is quite rural so it's hard to imagine that she just wandered off and disappeared on her own free will. She's currently listed as an "endangered runaway," but as this source indicates, detectives are not ruling anything out regarding her being taken against her will. So who is this boyfriend of hers? Is his name being kept from the media because he, like Kayla, is underage? Or is this a young adult who doesn't want his identity thrown into the court of public opinion? Both scenarios are understandable, but it would be interesting to get more information about this alleged fight the young couple allegedly had. What was the fight over? Although that may seem like too personal a question, the context of their quarrel could lend to a clue in finding out what happened to her. Did this alleged fight between Chadwick and her unidentified boyfriend turn violent at all? Does this young man have a reputation among his peers? Knowing his identity could help in figuring out just what may have happened, and if this young man is in no way connected to her disappearance, it seems like other avenues could be investigated, such as the possibility of a stranger abduction, which does feel strange considering her rural location. news.gather.com/viewArticle.action?articleId=281474981254763

Reward fund for missing teen Kayla Chadwick info now up to $7,500 Posted: 05/01/2012 Fort Morgan Police continue to be frustrated in their investigation into the whereabouts of a missing 17-year-old Fort Morgan girl, and are still asking for the public's help. Crime Stoppers and private businesses and citizens have brought the reward for information leading to the whereabouts of Kayla Chadwick to $7,500 -- $7,000 of it from private businesses and citizens. Although investigators are still receiving daily tips, there have been no reported breakthroughs in the 34-day search. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Fort Morgan Police Department at 867-5678 or Crime Stoppers (tips can be left anonymously) at 542-3411 or by going to cityoffortmorgan.com and selecting the Crime Stoppers tab on the home page. In recent weeks dozens of tips have been investigated, raising hopes each time that this could be the tip that may lead to Chadwick, but none so far has been successful. Fort Morgan Police, aided by the FBI and Morgan County Sheriff's Department, have met regularly and are reassessing what they need to do to find the teenager, a senior at Fort Morgan High School. Chadwick has been missing since March 27. Several searches around the area by family and friends, including a massive search on foot, all-terrain vehicles and horseback and using a helicopter, have not turned up any significant information or clues. Fort Morgan Chief of Police Keith Kuretich said he was hopeful that the reward would motivate someone to call in. "Every tip that we get indicates that she's alive and well," he said. Family and friends have said that they do not believe Chadwick has run away. She was last seen at about 11 p.m. March 27 in the 19500 block of Morgan County Road R.7 -- E. Eighth Avenue -- following an argument with her boyfriend. The boyfriend has been interviewed and is cooperating with the investigation, police said. She is 5-foot-5, weighs about 135 pounds and his brown eyes and red hair with black tips. Her ears and tongue are pierced, and she has a tattoo on one ankle. She was last seen wearing a black spaghetti-strap tank top under a blue and white checkered button down shirt, blue jeans with the left leg cut mid-calf andblack leggings underneath and black DC shoes. Police have followed up leads all over the state of Colorado and the Front Range, as well as the State of Washington, looking at every possible scenario and not eliminating any of them nor focusing more on any one than another. "This has been a very frustrating case for the family, community and police," said Kuretich. "In fact, the community has been very responsive and has been assisting in doing searches around Fort Morgan and Morgan County since Kayla's disappearance." www.fortmorgantimes.com/fort-morgan-local-news/ci_20521878/reward-fund-missing-teen-kayla-chadwick-info-now

Much of the area surrounding Fort Morgan has been searched, and this completes a circle. Searchers have combed Fort Morgan thoroughly, with no sign of the girl, Dykes said. The girl had been missing since March of last year, when she was 17, CBS Denver reported. Police have said that Chadwick disappeared after an argument with her 19-year-old boyfriend, Ivan Torralba. The two were senior classmates at Fort Morgan High School. Police said the cause of Chadwick's death remains unknown. Her remains were found in a rural area about one mile east of Highway 52 and the Fort Morgan Municipal Airport, according to the station. Police have not said what led them to that area. Remains of missing Fort Morgan teen Kayla Chadwick found after 16 monthsFORT MORGAN, Colo. — New developments in the case of Kayla Chadwick, a Fort Morgan teenager missing for 16 months, have finally lead investigators to the grim discovery of her remains, according to Fort Morgan Police. Police confirmed the remains were found about a mile east of the Fort Morgan Municipal Airport, and said those remains were identified as Chadwick’s through the use of DNA on Wednesday. The cause of death remains unknown. Earlier this week, police announced there was new evidence and a possible new crime scene related to her disappearance in March 2012. Kayla Chadwick was just 17 when she vanished after a fight with her boyfriend. Since then, tips coming into police have been minimal until a few weeks ago, when tips led police to execute search warrants and collect evidence that resulted in the first major break in the case. “The longer things go, people have a tendency of giving us more information, feeling more comfortable talking with law enforcement and passing information,” Fort Morgan Police Lt. Jared Crone said. “That’s what it’s come down to at this point,” Tips and new information led police to execute three search warrants at what they say could be a crime scene — the home of Chadwick’s ex-boyfriend, Ivan Torralba. They also searched and collected evidence in an area near his home. Investigators say they gathered evidence at what could be a third crime scene — an isolated area off Morgan County Rd. W and Highway 52. That is where Chadwick’s remains were eventually found. Now the hope is that Chadwick’s remains will speak volumes and lead to answers about what happened to a girl who has been gone for so long. Chadwick’s aunt, Chris Ferguson, said the family is hopeful there will be justice. Torralba is back in jail after police found him with marijuana, which violates his bond conditions in a perjury case unrelated to Chadwick’s disappearance. kdvr.com/2013/07/04/remains-of-missing-fort-morgan-teen-kayla-chadwick-found-after-one-year/

New Details Emerge In Kayla Chadwick Death CaseFORT MORGAN, Colo. (CBS4) – Police haven’t named any suspects in the death of Fort Morgan teenager Kayla Chadwick who went missing 16 months ago, but they are focusing on her former boyfriend and his mother.CBS4 Investigator Rick Sallinger obtained statements Chadwick’s boyfriend, Ivan Torralba, and his mother, Lucila Torralba, made to a grand jury. Investigators say the statements aren’t true. Both have been charged with lying to the grand juryChadwick had a fight with Ivan Torralba in which he claimed she pulled a gun on him and struck him, drawing blood. She was charged and a warrant was issued for her arrest in part to get her home if it turned out she was simply a runaway. District Attorney Brittny Lewton now calls the gun a weapon of interest in the case. Before Chadwick’s body was recently found in a field a grand jury had been investigating her disappearance. Ivan Torralba was indicted, accused of tampering with physical evidence involving Chadwick and lying to the grand jury on several questions the prosecutor asked him.“Prior to March 27, 2012 (when kayla disappeared), did you ever possess a .357 revolver?” the prosecutor asked Ivan Torralba. “No, I did not ever possess a .357,” he replied. “Did you go to Rainbow Park with Slava and Jose to retrieve this .357 gun, revolver on the 28th?” the prosecutor asked. “No, we never went to look for a gun,” Ivan Torralba said. In each answer prosecutors say Ivan Torralba lied. CBS4 Legal Analyst Karen Steinhauser says the charges are serious. “Perjury and attempt to influence a public official are charges that go to the heart of our entire system,” Steinhauser said. Ivan’s mother Lucila is also charged with lying to the grand jury. “When was the last time you saw Kayla?” the prosecutor asked her. “It would probably be like Saturday,” she answered. Prosecutors believe she lied. Ivan Torralba’s attorney said in no uncertain terms that his client is not involved in a homicide. He said Torralba is cooperating and assisting in the investigation. The district attorney said that is true only on occasion. denver.cbslocal.com/2013/07/13/new-details-emerge-in-kayla-chadwick-death-case/
