Missing Mitchell teen could be in Rapid City, police say
A 17-year-old suspected runaway from Mitchell may be in Rapid City, the girl's grandmother said Tuesday.
Shandell "Mexican" Bollock ran away May 23 after an argument with her adopted mother, according to her grandmother, Mary Bollock.
Shandell had previously lived in Rapid City, she said.
“She has no phone, no car, no money," Mary Bollock said.
Mitchell Police Department Detective Lt. Don Everson said his agency is not treating the case as a missing person, which assumes foul play is possible, but rather as a runaway. He said she has relatives in Rapid City and possibly ran to this area as he said she had threatened to do in the past.
“We still try to find them, because runaways can get themselves in bad situations as well," Everson said, adding that Rapid City Police has been made aware of the situation.
