Missing Female Soldier Disappearance Likely Has Just Two Suspects April 18, 2012 03:06 PM EDT Missing female soldier Kelly Bordeaux hasn't been seen since she left a bar at 1 a.m. on Saturday with an employee that worked there, but a military source said the bar worker isn't a suspect in the Army woman's disappearance. So who is? Police haven't named a suspect in the case but common sense tells you that the last person to see someone before they disappear is always a suspect, right? Kelly's own mother seems to suspect the bar worker, too. "Supposedly when the guy that was giving her a ride home, was taking her to her apartment, he got to her apartment and something spooked her," her mom said. Gee, what could that have been? Was it her husband Mike, who she was estranged from after only two years of marriage? MSNBC is reporting that her mom doesn't seem to thinks so. In fact, she says that the bar guy's words sound "off" to her about her daughter. Johnna Henson said the bar guy said that when Kelly got spooked she told him, "No, no, no just let me out here," which was a short distance from her apartment. That sounds more like the Army woman got spooked by the guy bringing her home, as probably many women have in the past, prompting her to tell him no three times and then ask to be let out of the vehicle rather than go another block with him. Kelly might not have wanted him to know exactly which apartment was hers if that's why she got out of his car early. But it doesn't sound like she ever made it home anyway, as someone managed to abduct her in the span of minutes after she exited his vehicle and walked around the corner to her apartment. How many predators do you think could have been lying in wait for the missing female soldier in that short of a distance--and that short of notice? The odds of that happening happenstance are just astronomical. No wonder cops suspect the person that last saw someone before they went missing...or the disgruntled spouse. news.gather.com/viewArticle.action?articleId=281474981270959

On Wednesday, Fayetteville police and military authorities searched along Ramsey Street between Interstate 295 and the bar where Bordeaux left around 1:20 a.m. Saturday. A helicopter with the N.C. Highway Patrol circled the Carvers Falls area off Ramsey Street while about 50 lawmen and 65 soldiers searched thick woods in the area. Kelli Bordeaux Search: Person of Interest Denies Involvement, Quesitoned Twice by Police A 25-year-old bar hand who is a registered sex offender has been questioned twice by police in connection with the disappearance of a missing soldier and has been called a person of interest. Kelli Bordeaux, 23, was last seen leaving Froggy Bottoms bar in Fayetteville, N.C., around 1:20 a.m Saturday. Nicholas Holbert, 25, told ABC News 11 exclusively that he gave the soldier a ride home from the bar, where he works, but denied having anything to do with her disappearance and said he dropped her off at the entrance of her neighborhood at her request. "As soon as you drive into the entrance to Meadowbrook, she said stop right here," Holbert said. "So I stopped and she said, 'I'll walk home.' I said, 'Are you sure?' She said, 'Yeah.' I said I figured she didn't want me to know where she lived, or somebody was there and she didn't want to be seen together." The bar hand, who lives in a lean-to behind Froggy Bottoms, was questioned for a second time today by Fayetteville Police. He said he believed he was being targeted because he has a criminal record. Holbert is a registered sex offender and was convicted as a 16-year-old of indecent liberties with a 5-year-old child, ABC 11 reported. The search for the Fort Bragg soldier, who was reported missing by base officials on Monday, focused today on an area where her phone was last detected, officials said. The last ping from Bordeaux's cell phone came late Friday or early Saturday off a tower off the Ramsey Street corridor, the area police plan to scour for clues, Fayetteville Police Chief Tom Bergamine said. Bordeaux's family said she took her job seriously and would never miss work. "Being a soldier, to Kelly, isn't something she'd jeopardize for anything," said Bordeaux's older sister, Olivia Cox. "Missing work isn't something that's in character for Kelli. This is an out of character thing to happen to my sister." Fayetteville Police spokesman Gavin MacRoberts said there is reason to believe the soldier is in danger. "There is some information we've gathered that makes us concerned for her safety," he said, declining to go into more detail, citing the ongoing investigation. The missing soldier, who is from St. Cloud, Fla., has been married to her husband, Mike Bordeaux, who is a civilian, for nearly two years. He was in Florida at the time of his wife's disappearance visiting his father, the Orlando Sentinel reported. Kelli Bordeaux's mother, Johnna Henson, told ABC News she was having difficulty coping with her daughter's suspicious disappearance. "I can't function not knowing where she is. How can someone hurt her?" Henson asked. "I lost my mother and my husband within a three months span. I can't deal with losing my child. I can't deal with any more loss." Henson plans to join her daughter, Cox, at Fort Bragg to assist in the search for Bordeaux. "She joined the military to make her family proud," Cox said. Cox described her sister as an "amazing soldier" and a "self-motivated individual." Bordeaux joined the military in April 2011, according to a Fort Bragg spokesperson. She was assigned to the 601st Area Support Medical Company, 261st Multifunctional Medical Battalion, 44th Medical Brigade, as a health service specialist. She joined the unit last November. Bordeaux is 5-foot-1 and weighs 102 pounds. She was last seen wearing a pink tube top with spaghetti straps and black shorts. Anyone with information is asked to contact Fayetteville Police. abcnews.go.com/m/story?id=16162182

Police resume search today for missing Fort Bragg soldier Kelli Marie Bordeaux Police are resuming their search for missing Fort Bragg soldier Kelli Marie Bordeaux this morning at a pond off Beard Road in the Eastover community. Bordeaux, 23, a private first class, has not been since early Saturday as she was leaving the Froggy Bottoms bar on Ramsey Street at the Interstate 295 interchange, police said. About 100 people - a mix of military personnel and Fayetteville police officers - combed the thickly wooded area Wednesday for clues. Late Wednesday, the searchers moved to the pond near Beard and Dobbins Holmes roads, police said. Divers searched the pond Wednesday until rain and darkness hampered the search, police said. A forensics technician van with the Fayetteville Police Department, a pickup truck with the Eastover Fire Department and a four-wheel drive vehicle with Cumberland County EMS are among the vehicles parked near the pond today. Investigators have twice questioned Nicholas Holbert of Spring Lake, a 25-year-old registered sex offender who worked at Froggy Bottoms, Chief Tom Bergamine said Wednesday. Holbert is reportedly the last person to have been in contact with Bordeaux, Bergamine said. - Nancy McCleary fayobserver.com/articles/2012/04/19/1172262?sac=fo.local

Kelli Bordeaux Update: Owner of bar where missing soldier was last seen arrested April 24, 2012 FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - Steven Cantrell, the owner of Froggy Bottoms bar in Fayetteville where missing Fort Bragg soldier Kelli Bordeaux was last seen, was arrested Monday on unrelated charges. WRAL reports that according to the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office, Cantrell, 49, was arrested on outstanding warrants for failing to appear in court on a driving while impaired charge in 2001. FBI agents also had warrants for Cantrell's arrest in Boston for failing to pay $400,000 in child support payments to three different women, sheriff's officials said. Authorities said Cantrell paid a $500 bond for the charges Monday and was being held on a detainer out of Boston. His bar, Froggy Bottoms, is the last place Pfc. Kelli Bordeaux was seen on April 14. Fort Bragg officials reported her missing to police two days after she failed to report for duty. Fayetteville police have questioned those who may have seen her at Froggy Bottoms bar while her family has made several pleas for information. A man who told police he had given Bordeaux a ride home from the bar was arrested Friday on a charge that he failed to provide his new address to authorities because he is a registered sex offender. Police haven't said whether that man, Nicholas Holbert, is a person of interest in her disappearance. Meanwhile, law enforcement officials say they are treating Bordeaux's disappearance as an active missing person's case, but added that they have "grave concerns" about her well-being. Bordeaux is assigned as a health service specialist with the 601st Area Support Medical Company, 261st Multifunctional Medical Battalion, 44th Medical Brigade. She has blond hair and brown eyes and was last seen wearing a pink tank top and black shorts, police said. She is described as 5-foot-1, weighing 102 pounds. Anyone with information on her whereabouts is being urged to call police at 910-433-1856 or Crime Stoppers at 910-483-TIPS (8477). m.cbsnews.com/fullstory.rbml?catid=57419760&feed_id=999&videofeed=999

Volunteers searching again for missing soldier Posted on June 9, 2012 at 1:50 PM FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- Volunteers are searching again for a missing Fort Bragg soldier. WRAL-TV reports that teams are looking Saturday in thick brush in Fayetteville for clues on Pfc. Kelli Bordeaux. The 23-year-old was last seen April 14 at Froggy Bottoms, where she had gone the night before to sing karaoke. Police believe Bordeaux left the bar with a man identified as a registered sex offender and whom she met there the week before. The man says he dropped her off at the entrance to the apartment complex where she lived with her husband, who was in Florida visiting family that weekend. The man said he had nothing to do with Bordeaux's disappearance. Hundreds of volunteers have searched the area around Bordeaux's home, the bar and a pond in rural Cumberland County. www.wcnc.com/news/regional/Volunteers-searching-again-for-missing-soldier-158305855.html

Is The Kelli Bordeaux Disappearance Related to Others? June 10, 2012 06:30 AM EDT Fort Bragg soldier Kelli Bordeaux is still missing and it doesn't appear that the latest search for her panned out with any positive clues. There is no sign of her or her remains, but it's evident that the young woman isn't alive judging by the lack of activity in general. She was last seen in mid-April at Froggy Bottoms bar where she was given a ride home by a registered sex offender who is now behind bars. The owner of Froggy Bottoms was also arrested not long after she vanished but detectives have refused to acknowledge either men as suspects or persons of interest. Could the disappearance of Kelli Bordeaux be related to the other disappearances of attractive blonde women in the southern and midwestern states? It seems rather convenient that so many of them vanish, even in close proximity to one another. Private investigator Bill Warner also shares the suspicion that something foul is afoot in this case, and many others. He is keeping a growing list of missing women in the same general region that all share uncanny similarities. The list is at nine now with names including Mickey Shunick, Lauren Spierer and Holly Bobo, among many others. Will it continue to grow with these unsolved mysteries? It's highly likely that the disappearance of Pfc. Bordeaux was the victim of foul play the very night she vanished, but is it likely that she is the victim of a serial killer? Who knows? With the lack of evidence made public in this case it's hard to tell, but the similarities are eerie to say the least. news.gather.com/viewArticle.action?articleId=281474981387710

Kelli Bordeaux Remains to Be Found; Detectives Go to Florida? May 21, 2012 09:50 PM EDT Missing Fort Bragg medic Kelli Bordeaux still hasn't been found and media coverage of her case appears to be dwindling. That's a shame because there appears to be a hot development in the young woman's disappearance involving the detectives and a trip to Florida. What could all of this mean? Kelli Bordeaux vanished in early April after she was last seen at Froggy Bottoms bar. Since her disappearance two men have been arrested that were known to be last seen with her. However, neither one of them have been publicly called suspects or persons of interest. Perhaps there is a reason for this. You see, detectives have expressed that they're on their way to Florida to gather more evidence in this case. Why Florida? Isn't that where Kelli's husband was during the time she vanished? That would be his alibi, right? It's interesting that investigators would just now take a look. Meanwhile searches for Kelli are still being coordinated, though with each week that passes the number of turnout for the young woman decreases. Coverage of her case has dwindled along with the numbers of people searching for her. news.gather.com/viewArticle.action?articleId=281474981346970

New Search for Kelli Bordeaux; Was She Cheating on Her Husband? June 18, 2012 11:51 AM EDT Fort Bragg medic Kelli Bordeaux vanished in April, and there have been no investigative updates on her case in several weeks. She has not been found, and it also doesn't seem like there are any new pieces of evidence regarding her disappearance. That's not stopping volunteers, however, who are launching a new search for the missing woman. While the new search for the missing Fort Bragg soldier is being launched, there are some details that stick out in this story that are rather disturbing. It seems that Kelli Bordeaux had met the man she was last seen with one week prior to her disappearance. She was married and her husband claims to have been in Florida when she vanished, but could he have known about her behavior? Was her behavior even shady? There are reports that the two had a rocky relationship and that she was a bit of a party girl. Judging by her many images online, she probably did enjoy the wild and carefree life of a single woman. So this brings new speculative opportunities to the table. The registered sex offender who is in custody was the man she had met a week prior to her disappearance. He was reportedly living in a tent behind the bar where she was last seen -- Froggy Bottoms. Would Kelli have been involved with a man who was, by all intents and purposes, homeless? Since she had hooked up with this guy a whole week prior to her disappearance, is it a possibility that her husband knew about it? Hopefully this new search for the missing army medic turns out fruitful because it's been far too long. The arrests that have been made over the course of this investigation were on "unrelated" issues -- and police have not referred to either of the men as persons of interest or suspects. So what does this mean? Are they as stumped as the rest of those who are worried for Kelli? news.gather.com/viewArticle.action?articleId=281474981411698

Butterfly ceremony marks anniversary of Kelli Bordeaux's disappearance Published: July 14, 2012 FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. --Missing Fort Bragg soldier last seen leaving Fayetteville bar Soldier's disappearance causing anguish for family Fayetteville Police have 'no new leads' on missing Fort Bragg... Kelli Bordeaux's sister, Olivia, and husband, Mike, pray for her safe return Butterflies are released as Kelli Bordeax's sister and husband join... The husband and sister of missing soldier Kelli Bordeaux joined about 100 volunteers Saturday morning in a ceremony marking three months since she disappeared in Fayetteville. Organizers called it a "Butterfly Release of Hope for Kelli Bordeaux." Kelli Bordeaux's sister, Olivia Cox, husband, Mike Bordeaux, and best friend, Tamara Collins, attended the event. Kelli's 3-year-old nephew opened a box of butterflies. "I told Wyatt before we released them that we were going to release the butterflies so they could go find his Aunt Kelli," said Cox. "When we released them from the box, we were able to give them the freedom we're trying to get for Kelli." "I think she's the best person in the world," said Mike Bordeaux. He described his wife as "Very, very smart, she's talented, she's a good soldier, she's good at what she does." He says he is concentrating his life on finding her. "The farther it goes along, the more it hurts cause I don't know what happened," said Mike Bordeaux. Kelli's best friend since childhood came to the event from Florida. "This is my time to prove to her that I appreciate everything that she's done for me in my life. I will be there for Kelli until the day I die," said Collins. Bordeaux, 23, disappeared on April 14 after leaving a Fayetteville night spot called Froggy Bottoms with an acquaintance. Nicholas Holbert is a registered sex offender who was living in a tent behind the bar. He was arrested and charged with failing to report his address properly, but has not been called a suspect in Bordeaux's disappearance. He said he dropped her off near her apartment after midnight the day she disappeared. The owner of the bar was also arrested on unrelated charges and Froggy Bottoms has closed. A dedicated band of volunteers has searched every Saturday at various locations in the Fayetteville area. Some volunteers have been on horseback and trained dogs have been used, but no trace of her has been found. Mike Bordeaux told police he was with his parents in Florida when his wife disappeared. He has spoken in public asking for her safe return and thanking the volunteers who have searched for her. They plan another search next Saturday. Fayetteville investigators have not been involved in the recent searches. Police say they've narrowed the timeline of when something happened to her, to between 12:30 a.m. and 1:45 a.m. on April 14. "We have no crime scene. We have people who were last seen with her, and once we talked with them we kind of got a feel for what went on. We spend a lot of time on victimology, which is basically a study of the victim and looking into her past," said Det. Jeff Locklear. He said police have gone out of state to talk to Bordeaux's friends, family and former co-workers. Anyone with information on her disapperance is asked to call Fayetteville Police. www2.nbc17.com/news/2012/jul/14/family-friends-join-searchers-missing-ft-bragg-sol-ar-2431791/

Kelli Bordeaux Missing: Forensic Tests To Determine Indentity Of Remains Found Near Fort Bragg The discovery of remains on Tuesday near Fort Bragg raised speculation that they might belong to a soldier who vanished seven months ago, WTVD reported. But before investigators determine if they've at last found Kelli Bordeaux, they must determine if the remains are human or animal. An Army forensic team is examining the remains at a laboratory, according to WNCT Bordeaux, a 23-year-old Army medic at the Fayetteville, N.C. base, vanished after a night of partying on April 14. When she failed to report for duty two days later, she was reported missing. Her husband, a civilian, was out of town the night she disappeared. The last person to see her was a convicted sex offender who gave her a ride home from the Froggy Bottoms bar where she sang karaoke with friends. Police questioned Nicholas Holbert twice and ruled him out as a person of interest. In April, police said they had reasons to believe Bordeaux was in danger, but didn't provide specifics. With no suspects in the case, Bordeaux's sister begged on Monday for anyone with information to come forward. "I know it's scary to do the right thing, especially if you know a hard truth, but you can't imagine how difficult it is for my family," Olivia Cox said on Fox News. "Her birthday is a month away and she's not here. She's not going to be here for Thanksgiving." www.huffingtonpost.com/mobileweb/2012/11/21/kelli-bordeaux-forensic-tests-remains-fort-bragg_n_2171536.html

Remains found on Fort Bragg Tuesday likely won't be identified until next week It likely won't be known until next week whether the remains discovered Tuesday on Fort Bragg are those of a human or an animal, a spokesman said this morning. But a question that is being asked in some circles is whether the remains could be linked to two high-profile missing person cases reported in the area. Could the remains be those of Kelli Bordeaux, the 23-year-old Fort Bragg soldier who vanished in April after leaving a Ramsey Street bar? Or could they be those of William James Simon, a 61-year-old cab driver who hasn't been heard from since March 22, 2008, when he radioed his boss that he was taking a passenger to Raleigh? Investigators with the Fayetteville Police Department, which is handling the Bordeaux case, and the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office, the investigators on the Simon case, wouldn't say when asked. Representatives from both agencies declined to comment since military authorities are investigating. The remains were found in the Eastern Training Area, Ben Abel, a Fort Bragg spokesman, reported. The area is believed to be near Spring Lake, although the precise location was not known. Bordeaux was last seen about 1:20 a.m. on April 14 when she left the now-closed bar to go home to her apartment about a quarter-mile away, according to Google maps. That's about seven miles from the area where the remains were found. Repeated searches have turned up no sign of Bordeaux, a specialist with the 601st Area Support Medical Company, 261st Multifunctional Medical Battalion, 44th Medical Brigade. The L&M Taxi Service cab driven by Simon was was discovered on Rosser Road in Spring Lake the same day he went missing. Simon's Bible was found on the front seat. That's about three miles from the area where the remains were found, according to a Google map search. If the remains are identified as those of Bordeaux or Simon, the respective agencies will likely be notified quickly. "DNA and that kind of thing, when someone is missing, is entered into a national data bank," said Debbie Tanna, Sheriff's Office spokeswoman. "If there was a match, we would be notified." a.fayobserver.com/#articles/2012/11/21/1219278

One year anniversary approaching for missing soldier Tuesday, March 05, 2013 FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WTVD) -- It has been nearly one year since a Fort Bragg soldier vanished, and there's a new push to find out what happened to her. Fayetteville police investigators told ABC11 they are working on leads in the case of Kelli Bordeaux, but they are not elaborating beyond that. In the meantime, the one year milestone is approaching for Bordeaux's family. "It's really unbelievable. That you wake up every day and still don't know where she is, " said Bordeaux's sister, Olivia Cox. The Army medic disappeared after leaving a Fayetteville nightclub with an acquaintance. Police and an army of volunteers spent months scouring woods and fields in the area, but they have found no trace of the missing woman. Bordeaux's family keeps a Facebook page called "Find Kelli Bordeaux" updated with information. While police are not commenting on a suspect, the family keeps a picture of Nicholas Holbert on the page. Holbert is a convicted sex offender and told authorities he gave Bordeaux a ride home from the bar the night she disappeared. He remains in jail on unrelated charges. "Nothing has led us further than him, and I mean that is kind of where we are staying at," Cox said. "You don't have a crime scene or starting point, you just have to start and keep hoping and searching." abclocal.go.com/wtvd/story?section=news/local&id=9017118

Army declares missing Ft. Bragg soldier dead 8:32 PM, May 23, 2013 The Army has declared a missing Fort Bragg soldier dead. Army Combat Medic Kelli Bordeaux was last seen in April of 2012 at a bar in Fayetteville, North Carolina. The Army told Bordeaux's mother, who lives in Cocke County, about the change in status on Monday. The change is a standard procedure. It does not presume that Bordeaux is dead, but transfers benefits to her family. www.wbir.com/news/article/275387/2/Army-declares-missing-Ft-Bragg-soldier-dead

Posted: June 15 Dogs, volunteers join search for missing Fort Bragg soldier
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Organizers praised a good turnout Saturday in the on-going search for a missing Fort Bragg soldier who disappeared more than a year ago. 24-year-old Kelli Bordeaux was last seen April 14, 2012, leaving a bar. Searchers gathered at 9 a.m. Saturday at a Marathon Gas Station on Ramsey Street off Elliott Bridge Road for a briefing by Al Mignacci, then dispersed into the brush to look for clues to Bordeaux's disappearance. Mignacci, of Raleigh, has worked on the successful search for other missing people, including Kelly Morris, who went missing in Granville County in 2008. He has been recognized at the national level for his volunteerism. "Whether it's searching for a missing person or helping someone along the side of the road with a broken tire, it doesn't matter to me," Mignacci has said. The Army recently declared Bordeaux legally dead, making her family eligible for survivor's benefits. She grew up in St. Cloud, Fla., and her husband was living in the Sunshine State at the time of her disappearance.www.wral.com/search-planned-for-missing-fort-bragg-soldier/12556332/

Few details yet on human remains found in Fayetteville Posted: Nov 13, 2013 9:59 AM CST Updated: Nov 13, 2013 2:29 PM CSTFAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -During a news conference Wednesday, Fayetteville Police said they have very little information about human remains found on Tuesday. Assistant Chief Charles Kimble explained a man walking along a railroad track found the skeletal remains Tuesday afternoon in the area of Winslow Street and Southern Avenue. The remains appeared to human he said. Kimble said the remains were sent to the North Carolina Medical Examiner's Office. He said the bones did not immediately indicate anything about who's remains were found. "It's too early at this point to tell. Of course we have to let science kick in," Kimble said. "We can't tell the sex. We can't tell the race. We know very little about the remains. Hopefully in the next 7 to 10 days we will get that report back. Then we can start working backwards in our investigation." When asked specifically about if the remains could be those of Kelli Bordeaux, Kimble said there was no way to tell. Bordeaux has been missing since May 2012 and has been declared dead by the Army.
"It would be so unfair to speculate at this point, and when we get the report back we will know a lot more," Kimble said. Officer found a skull, some teeth and other human bones. When the search of the area resumed around 7 a.m. Wednesday, investigators found more bones than were originally collected Tuesday. The additional bones were also sent to the medical examiner, Kimble said. He explained there was no clothing found and not enough evidence to speculate about whether the person died there or was dragged there. "A train comes through this area a lot. There's weather. There's heat. There's precipitation. There's a lot of things that come into play," Kimble explained. " So until we get that science back from the medical examiner, we'll know a lot more." www.wncn.com/story/23956990/fayetteville-police-call-noon-news-conference-on-human-remains

Published: 07:17 AM, Thu Nov 14, 2013 Fayetteville police say it will be a week or more before they know any more about the human remains found TuesdayInvestigators found additional human bones Wednesday morning along the railroad tracks between Winslow and Blount streets, but who they belong to and where they came from remain a mystery, Fayetteville police said.
"It could be between seven and 10 days before I can tell you anything," Assistant Chief Charles Kimble said at a noon news conference. "It's too early to tell." The bones - including a skull, teeth, clavicle, arm and rib - were found about 2:40 p.m. Tuesday by someone walking along the railroad tracks behind the Aberdeen and Rockfish Railroad Co. building on the 600 block of Winslow Street, Kimble said.
"That person notified the railroad people and then left," he said. Police are hoping that person will come forward, Kimble said. The site was cordoned off by police tape Tuesday afternoon, and an officer was assigned to watch the area overnight, Kimble said. Investigators and forensic technicians returned about 7 a.m. Wednesday, Kimble said, and were conducting a grid search of the area. There were no obvious signs of trauma to the skull, he said. The remains have been sent to the state Medical Examiner's Office in Raleigh to determine the gender, race, cause of death and identity of the remains, Kimble said. Sgt. Manuel DeJesus, a police spokesman, said the department has seven active missing persons cases since Jan. 1, 2010. Kimble would not speculate when asked if the remains could be those of Kelli Bordeaux, the Fort Bragg soldier who disappeared in April 2012 after visiting a club on Ramsey Street. "It would be unfair," Kimble said. Trains use the tracks, he said, but the A&R Railroad Co. worked with police to keep traffic off the tracks until all evidence had been collected. fayobserver.com/articles/2013/11/13/1296068

seven active missing persons cases since Jan. 1, 2010.
That is a lot of missing people.
And a lot of families hoping this body doesn't belong to their loved one.

Remains of Kelli Bordeaux recovered in Fayetteville, suspect in custody Posted on: 3:52 pm, May 14, 2014, updated on: 10:33pm, May 14, 2014FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — The remains of missing Army medic PFC Kelli Bordeaux have been recovered near Fayetteville and a suspect has been arrested in the case, police confirmed during a news conference on Wednesday afternoon. The remains were found in a deeply wooded area one-mile north of Interstate 295 on River Road about five miles from Froggy Bottoms bar, where Bordeaux was last seen, according to police. Police said they believe Bordeaux was deceased prior to being placed in the wooded area. Police also confirmed Nicholas Michael Holbert has been arrested in the case. Holbert, a convicted sex offender, has been a person of interest in the case “since the beginning,” police said. Holbert reportedly gave Bordeaux a ride home from the Froggy Bottoms bar on April 14, 2012, where she sang karaoke with friends. Police previously questioned Holbert twice and initially ruled him out as a person of interest. Bordeaux was last seen around 1:40 a.m. on April 14, 2012. When she failed to report for duty two days later, she was reported missing. In a 2012 interview with WTVD, Holbert admitted he drove Bordeaux home on April 14, 2012, but he denied having anything to do with her disappearance. The spot Holbert claimed he dropped off Bordeaux is about a quarter mile from her apartment on Water Trail Drive. He claimed he figured there might be someone at the apartment she didn’t want him to see, so he left. “Around one, one-thirty, she told me ‘I’m tired. I want to go home.’ I said ‘Okay,’ so we got in the car and as soon as I pulled into Meadowbrook, she said ‘You stop right here and let me out. I’ll walk,’” Holbert told WTVD. “Did you kill her?” asked a reporter at WTVD. “I did not,” said Holbert. Holbert is now charged with first-degree murder. He’s a registered sex offender who was convicted as a 16-year-old of indecent liberties with a 5-year-old child. He’s been in and out of jail over the past two years. “We are deeply saddened that the discovery of the apparent remains of Army Spc. Kelli Bordeaux now concludes our final hopes of her returning safely,” said Col. Christian Karsner, Chief of Staff, Task Force Bragg. “Our new hope is that her family, members of her unit and her friends will take some comfort from this news and the degree of closure it may bring, as well as the information that this discovery may reveal,” Karsner said. Bordeaux was assigned to the 601st Area Support Medical Company, 44th Medical Brigade and served as a combat medic. She was last seen departing an establishment in Fayetteville, N.C., on April 14, 2012, under suspicious circumstances. “The entire 261st Multifunctional Medical Battalion is deeply saddened by the news that the presumed remains of SPC Kelli Bordeaux have been found,” said Lt. Col Heather A. Kness, Bordeaux’s battalion commander. “Kelli was and always will be a very special member of our battalion.” “She and her family have remained close in our hearts since Kelli last stood in our formation in April 2012,” Kness added. “We honor her memory and will always remember her vibrant spirit, her love of life and her loyal and dedicated service to our Army and nation as a combat medic.” Fayetteville police said that they are continuing to investigate, and the location where Bordeaux’s remains were found is an active crime scene. “We are very grateful to the tireless work of the Fayetteville Police Department, Army Criminal Investigation Command Special Agents and all of the many community volunteers who gave of themselves in the ongoing attempts to locate Spc. Bordeaux,” Karsner said. “We remain committed to helping this Fort Bragg Soldier’s family with all that we can provide in the way of needed assistance and ensuring the circumstances of her death are fully investigated.” myfox8.com/2014/05/14/report-remains-of-kelli-bordeaux-recovered-in-fayetteville/
