Missing Boston teen makes desperate call home then gets disconnected, mom says

The parents of a 13-year-old Boston girl missing since May heard from her during a phone call Sunday night, when she whispered she wanted to come home, MyFoxBoston.com reported.

The call was abruptly disconnected, leaving Erika Rivera’s mother, Zenaida Roman, to believe her daughter is being held against her will by a 16-year-old boy who brags about being in a gang, the station reported.

"She was like, 'I want to come home; I want to come home,' " the girl's mother said. "But she was like whispering in like a desperate way."

Erika was last seen on May 25 when she showed up for school in Belmont, but never made it to any of her classes. In April, Erika reportedly disappeared with the boy for five days.

Capt. Peter Hoerr, from the Belmont Police Department, said the girl’s parents have taken an active role in the search by distributing posters and handouts.

Hoerr told FoxNews.com police are actively searching for the girl and have not identified a suspect. The girl has a history of running away from home, he said.

Erika Rivera: Missing teen from Massachusetts Found

UPDATE: June 7 - 2012

"Early this afternoon, the Boston Police located Erica Rivera at a residence in the city. She is safe and in their custody. The circumstances of her disappearance are still under investigation," reported Belmont Police Lt. Richard Santangelo.

Erika Rivera, 13, is missing from Belmont, Massachusetts. She was last seen at school on May 25, then on Sunday, her mother, Zenaida Roman received a phone call from her daughter. She said she wanted to come home and then the phone call was cut off.

Zenaida believes that Erika is with a 16-year-old boy from Boston who she met on Facebook and talked about being in a gang. She also believes the boy is holding Erika against her will.

Erika also disappeared with the boy in April, but her mother said that this time it is different.
