Man with Niles Ties Missing in Akron A Niles woman is heartbroken because her son and only child, Jorry Palm, 28, has been missing since Saturday. He was last seen leaving a bar in Akron, not too far from where he lives. Cheri Van Dyke said it's not like her son to not call or text, and each day without him is terrifying. "It's like Jorry just fell off the face of the earth. There's no sign of him," said Dan Warner, Van Dyke's boyfriend. "He's been missing for seven days," Van Dyke said. Palm was last seen leaving Tiny's Tavern in Akron. Van Dyke and Warner said two men and a woman were in the bar that night that no one knew, not even the bartender. Palm texted a friend, saying he was leaving. "He walks out and a few seconds later, those three walk out, and he never made it home," Van Dyke said. Van Dyke said she just learned her son took money out of the ATM. "He may have been coerced to get the money out for these people because they followed him out and we haven't seen him since then," Van Dyke said. She said it's uncommon to not hear from her son. The Akron Police Department is investigating the case and have labeled it as a "suspicious missing person." "In interviewing the family, friends and co-workers, this is not consistent with his normal behavior," said Akron Capt. Daniel Zampelli. "If he's not going to show up for work, he'd call and let them know. He checks in with friends. They go back and forth. So on and so forth. This is out of the ordinary for him to be gone this long without being in contact with family or friends." "It's terrifying not knowing where my baby is at," Van Dyke said. "It's almost like I'm waiting for a ride that's never coming," Warner said. Palm is 5'-7", weighs 180 pounds and has blonde hair and blue eyes. "It's like I'm lost, my heart is empty," Van Dyke said. "To me, he's my son, and I want my son home," Warner said. Palm's car, a 2007 red Mazda Z-6, Ohio License plate FDX 3947 also is missing. If you have any information about this case, call Akron Police at 330-375-2490. www.wytv.com/content/news/local/story/Man-with-Niles-Ties-Missing-in-Akron/X98G0RAehE6Ta2kpFKSu5Q.cspx

Father Pleads For Help in Finding Missing Son Posted on: 6:02 pm, June 28, 2012 AKRON, Ohio —A father makes a plea to help find his son who has been missing for nearly three weeks. Jorry Palm, 28, of Akron, was last seen in the early morning hours of Saturday, June 9. Police say Palm had been at Tiny’s Tavern in Akron earlier that night. From surveillance video, police know he made two withdrawals from the ATM and also went to Karam’s Bar. But, it was after 2 a.m. He missed last call and left. Police said a signal from his cell phone was picked up shortly after 6 a.m. in the Niles area. Jorry’s father, Steve Palm, said there has been no contact from his son since that night, and that is very unusual for him. He is asking the public’s help in locating Jorry. “The police don’t care what you do. They’re just looking for some information. So, be brave. Step up to the plate. Help us. We need some help here, please,” Steve Palm pleaded. A missing person’s report was filed after Palm did not show up for work at Lockheed Martin on that following Monday. Palm has blond hair and blue eyes. He is 5’7″ tall and weighs 180 pounds. He was driving a 2007 red Madza with Ohio license plate FDX 3947. His car is also missing, police said. Information about his disappearance can be found on the findjorry.com website. Father seeks public's help to find missing Akron man 06/29/2012 7:47 AM The father of a northeast Ohio man who disappeared three weeks ago is pleading for the public’s help to figure out what happened. Police say 28-year-old Jorry Palm of Akron visited two bars in that city the night of June 8 and then apparently drove northeast toward Niles, his hometown near Youngstown. Officers haven’t been able to locate Palm or his car, a bright red Mazda 6. There’s been no sign of activity on his cellphone or bank account, stalling the investigation. His father told reporters that disappearing without warning would be out of character for Palm. The blond, blue-eyed computer engineering specialist was reported missing when he didn’t show up for work at Lockheed Martin. The Akron Beacon Journal reports Palm had security clearance for the government contractor. m.cantonrep.com/repository/pm_30237/contentdetail.htm?contentguid=XFVw2HPp

UPDATE: Car Crash Remains Identified as Jorry Palm Trumbull County Coroner Dr. Humphrey Germaniuk has confirmed that the remains found inside a car that crashed into a swampy area on Route 46 in Niles belong to a man reported missing in Akron June 9. A helicopter pilot saw a wrecked car in the area of the bike trail near the Weathersfield border on Tuesday afternoon and contacted the Ohio State Highway Patrol. After a short search, police found a red Mazda belonging to Jorry Palm, 28, who has family in Niles. The remains were identified using dental records, according to the coroner. A press release from the Niles Police Department states that toxicology will not be performed because the body was too badly decomposed. Police said there are no signs of foul play at this time, but Dr. Germaniuk will conduct additional examinations to confirm his preliminary findings. The cause of death has been listed as drowning associated with blunt force trauma as a result of the crash. The Ohio State Highway Patrol said they believe the crash happened June 9 because that was the last time Palm was seen and the last time his cell phone was used. The crash occurred about 1 mile away from the last cell phone tower that Palm's phone registered on. The cause of the accident is unknown, but the Ohio State Highway Patrol said in a press release on Tuesday that the car was traveling north on Route 46 at a high rate of speed, went off the left side of the road, struck a large area of concrete/brick debris, went into a wooded area, over a ravine and came to rest on its roof. The impact split the car into two pieces. The vehicle was found laying in about 18 inches of water. www.wytv.com/content/news/local/story/UPDATE-Car-Crash-Remains-Identified-as-Jorry-Palm/xejYaJle0EqD1xBInovyDg.cspx
