Missing Bensalem 16-year-old found; father charged with interfering with custody Posted: Thursday, October 4, 2012 5:00 am Updated: 6:32 pm, Tue Dec 4, 2012.
After an intense out-of-state police search, a missing Bensalem 16-year-old girl with major intellectual disabilities was found in Connecticut with her convicted sex offender father, Bensalem police said. FBI agents and Hartford, Conn., police found Ana Marie Jimenez Hernandez on Sept. 27 with Victor Luis Laboy at a relative’s house, Bensalem police Sgt. Andrew Aninsman said. She was physically unharmed and returned to a new foster home in Philadelphia, 13 days after going missing Sept. 14, police said. Before she went missing, she was living in a foster home in Bensalem. Laboy, 41, of Philadelphia was taken into police custody and is in the process of being extradited to Pennsylvania, where he faces felony charges of interfering with the custody of children, Aninsman said. Bensalem police filed the charge against Laboy six days after his daughter went missing. He will also likely face additional criminal charges for Megan’s Law violations, Aninsman said. Police believe that Laboy took his daughter from Philadelphia to Connecticut by bus, Aninsman said. Police believe the girl went voluntarily with her father, but it is unclear how she got from Bensalem to Philadelphia. Bensalem police’s special victims unit received a tip that Ana Marie might have been in Hartford, where her father has family, and they tracked down family members in Philadelphia to narrow the search, Aninsman said.
The Philadelphia Department of Human Services has custody of Ana Marie and her father is not allowed unsupervised visitation with her, Aninsman said. Laboy has been listed as a sexually violent predator on the state’s Megan’s Law website since July 25.
In April, Laboy was found guilty in Philadelphia of endangering the welfare of children and indecent assault on a child under age 13 and sentenced to 11½ to 23 months in jail. He received credit for time served, five years of probation and was ordered to have no unsupervised contact with minors, according to online court records. www.phillyburbs.com/news/local/courier_times_news/missing-bensalem--year-old-found-father-charged-with-interfering/article_23eb6de2-c8ed-5699-84cf-3e20f1db6526.html
