Body of Missing Woman Found in Loosahatchie River Posted on: 7:50 pm, October 18, 2012 (Memphis) –The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office confirms the body of a woman found in the Loosahatchie River Thursday is missing Memphian Karen Thomas. A person walking in the area saw what they thought was a body and called the sheriff’s office. The discovery comes exactly one week after the Memphis mother of two disappeared. Her family was among the spectators watching investigators at the crime scene. “It’s all devastating everybody is shook up. Everybody is thrown off. Don’t know what to expect. Don’t know what is what. We haven’t heard nothing since her disappearance,” said Rockie Hilliard, Thomas’ brother-in-law. Dozens of people showed up to the crime scene, mostly family members of Thomas. Her family prayed as they watched investigators from afar. The family of her husband also came for support. The one person the On Your Side Investigators did not see was Thomas’ husband. He was the last to see her alive. The sheriff’s office says there is no way to determine how long the body had been there until the medical examiner finishes the autopsy. wreg.com/2012/10/18/missing-womans-family-gathers-at-crime-scene/
