Yuma police question associate of missing teen
June 17, 2013 Yuma police have questioned an associate of a missing local teen who hasn’t been in contact with her family for more than four months and have no further interest in speaking with her. The teen, however, is still being sought. Emily Lynn Hieber, 19, is 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighs about 130 pounds and has a light complexion, light brown hair and green eyes. She may have dyed her hair dark brown and cut it short. She enjoys wearing wigs and has a cross tattoo across her back. Hieber is also known by the nickname "Hippie" and dresses in that style. As part of their investigation, Yuma police detectives wanted to speak with 34-year-old Anita Smith, who has been associated with Hieber in the past. The Yuma Police Department encourages anyone with information about this case to call Sgt. Ron Rodriguez at 373-4678, or 78-CRIME to remain anonymous. Hieber’s last post on Facebook was made on Feb. 3. Before then, she had consistently posted to the social networking website. Her cell phone was also turned off in early February, and she stopped contacting immediate family members, who had heard from her at least once a week previously. Hieber is a talented swimmer who was profiled in the Yuma Sun in October 2010. At the time, she was a member of the Kofa High School swim team and broke a 100-meter butterfly record that had been set by her mother in 1988. According to her family Hieber had been gone through some difficult times, but had recently decided to make a change and was in the process of putting her life back together. Her family remains confident Hieber will be found safe and sound and hopes she has just gone into hiding. Read more: www.yumasun.com/articles/teen-88178-yuma-missing.html#ixzz2XAr5eWLh
