Search launched for missing toddler in western Wis. 1:25 PM, Jul 17, 2013CENTURIA, Wis. - An army of law enforcement professionals and hundreds of volunteers are combing the fields and woods near Centuria, Wisconsin, looking for a 2-year-old boy who apparently wandered away from his home Tuesday night. Family friend Kirk Anderson tells KARE 11 Isaiah Theis was last seen playing with his older brother in the yard around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. His parents called police immediately when they couldn't find the toddler.
The family farm is surrounded by a combination of lush fields and dense woods, making the search challenging. There are also a couple of swampy areas and ponds within a mile or so of the Theis home. Images from SKY 11 show volunteers spread out, walking the rows of corn and bean fields near the Theis family farm. Isaiah was last seen wearing a green shirt and blue shorts, and white socks. He may not have been wearing shoes.
More than 100 volunteers showed up Tuesday night to help look for the boy, but the search was called off around 1:30 a.m. when darkness made things too dangerous to continue. Those volunteers, and dozens more are now joining local police and deputies from Polk County as the search resumed around 6 a.m. Wednesday. KARE 11 reporter Scott Seroka is on the scene, and describes conditions as stifling hot with only a slight breeze. He says one volunteer was taken to an ambulance after she was overcome by the heat. Polk County Sheriff Pete Johnson is asking those who wish to help in the search for Isaiah to dress appropriately for the task and report to the Polk-Burnett complex in Centuria. Volunteers will be asked to wait there until a search area is identified. Search teams will be assembled and bussed to the areas where activity is being staged. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Isaiah Theis is asked to call the Polk County Sheriff's Office at 715-485-8300. www.kare11.com/news/article/1032193/391/Search-launched-for-missing-toddler-in-western-Wis

UPDATE: Still no sign of missing toddler Posted: Jul 17, 2013 6:45 AM CDT UPDATE: The Polk County sheriff says as of 3 p.m. on Wednesday, July 17 they still have not found missing 2-year-old Isaiah Theis but the search continues. The sheriff also said there is no reason to believe the toddler was kidnapped. Polk Co. (Press Release) -- On 7/16/2013 at 8:49 p.m. Polk County Dispatch Center received a call of a missing two-year-old from a house on the 1500 block of 180th Street, near Centuria in Polk County. According to his mother, two-year-old Isaiah Theis, was last seen in his house playing with his brother at approximately 7:30 p.m. Upon realizing Isaiah was no longer in the house, the family, friends and neighbors began to search the immediate area.
When they were unable to locate him, they contacted law enforcement for assistance. Law enforcement requested the assistance of both Centuria and Balsam Lake fire departments for manpower to assist in the search. Volunteer searchers began to arrive on scene after reading of Isaiah being gone on social media web sites. Approximately 150 volunteers had arrived to assist in the search. Organized searches of the surrounding area were begun and the Minnesota State Patrol helicopter was also requested to assist with their Forward Looking Infrared (FLIR) unit. Unfortunately, no areas of interest were identified. At about 1:30 a.m., after consulting with the family, the search was suspended until 6:00 a.m. because it was becoming dangerous for searches to continue in the dark. It also provided law enforcement an opportunity to prepare for the next day's search. At 6:00 a.m., the search resumed. All of the areas searched last night were again searched. The search today was intended to be a slower, more detailed search of those same areas in the daylight.
As the areas that we believe Isaiah would most likely be are again cleared, we will move the search farther. Volunteer searchers continue to arrive. We are asking that those that wish to help dress appropriately for the task and report to the Polk-Burnett complex in Centuria. Volunteers will be asked to wait there until a search area is identified. Search teams will be assembled and then they will be bussed to that area. As of 9:30 a.m. the search has not located Isaiah.

Frantic search for boy, 2, after he wandered from his rural home wearing no shoes
A frantic search is underway for a two-year-old boy who vanished after wandering from his rural home on Tuesday night. Isaiah Theis was last seen playing with his five-year-old brother by their home in Centuria, Wisconsin around 7.30pm. His family, friends and neighbors looked for the boy and when they could not find him, they contacted the Sheriff’s Office at about 8.50pm. His parents said he was wearing a green shirt, blue shorts and white socks at the time he was missing - and added that he might not be wearing shoes. On Tuesday night, law enforcement officers and 150 volunteers scoured a one-square-mile area around the house, by foot and by air, in search for the youngster but did not find him. The search was called off around 1.30am after the Polk County Sheriff's Office deemed it too dangerous in the dark. It resumed around 6am on Wednesday morning - but police said the family's farm is surrounded by fields and dense woods, making the search challenging. 'All of the areas searched last night were again searched,' Sheriff Peter Johnson told the Star Tribune. 'The search today was intended to be a slower, more detailed search of those same areas in the daylight. As the areas that we believe Isaiah would most likely be are again cleared, we will move the search farther.' Justin Theis says he hopes his son is just taking a nap in the fields and will find his way home soon 'What I'm hoping for is that he laid down and took a nap in a corn stalk or some place,' Theis told WCCO. 'I'm praying that he’ll just wake up from a nice sleep over the night and wander home. ' Images from SKY 11 showed how the volunteers were walking the rows of corn and bean fields near the Theis family farm. There are also ponds in the area. KARE11 reported that one volunteer was taken to an ambulance after she was overcome by the heat in the search on Wednesday morning. Centuria is roughly 60 miles northeast of St. Paul, Minnesota. It is also about 40 miles south of another search that ended in tragedy last summer. Three-year-old Renna Mae Williams wandered from her family's home in Danbury last August and her body was found a few days later in a canal near to her home. Authorities said she drowned. Isaiah Theis, 2 -Year-Old Found Dead In Car,Had Vehicle Key With Him: Pastor Jul 21, 2013 DRESSER, Wis. -- A 2-year-old Wisconsin boy who wasfound dead in the trunk of a car had the key to the vehicle with him, the family's pastor said Saturday. Isaiah Theis had that key and several other sets of keys with him when a deputy found his body Wednesday night, the Rev. Rick Van Gundy told The Associated Press. Van Gundy said he got the information from the Theis family but declined to be more specific, because of the sensitivity of the situation."This is breaking the heart of somebody who has a broken heart," said Van Gundy, pastor of St. Peter'sCommunity Church in Dresser. "It's that much of a devastation to them that you can't even put a word to it." The deputy found the boy in the trunk of a customer's car on his parents' property near Centuria, where the boy's father runs an auto repair business. Preliminary autopsy results released Friday said Isaiah likely died of hyperthermia –a condition in which theb ody temperature spikes– due to Wednesday's blistering heat. Polk County investigators have not yet said how Isaiah, who disappeared Tuesday night, got in the trunk. Sheriff Peter Johnson did not immediately return a phone call from the AP on Saturday. The news about the keys was first reported Friday night by KSTP-TV. Van Gundy told the station he had personally shined a flashlight inside the car and looked under it when he joined the search Tuesday night, but that it never crossed any body's mind to unlock the trunk. Officials with the sheriff's department have made similar statements. Investigators said they presumed Isaiah had wandered off while playing with his brother Tuesday night because hehad a tendency to do that. About 2,450 civilian volunteers helped search the fields and woods surrounding the family's home, about 60 milesnortheast of St. Paul, Minn., throughout the day Wednesday. But nobody looked into the trunk until the car's owner came to retrieve it Wednesday night. Van Gundy said he was not surprised that Isaiah might have been able to use the keys to get into the trunk. "He's anexceptionally smart little boy," he said, adding that he would often watch his father repairing cars and had picked up his father's mechanical aptitude. "If he saw you once he could emulate it, he could copy it." The Theis family is still hurting deeply, Van Gundy said, describing them as"emotionally and physically tired, soul-weary but blessed." Isaiah'sfuneral will be held in the coming week, but details were not settled, he said. m.huffpost.com/us/entry/3632586
