Custer County investigators find person of interest, but are no closer to finding missing teenA man identified as a person of interest in the disappearance of Weatherford 16-year-old was taken into custody Saturday, but after four hours of interviews, the Custer County sheriff believes he may have nothing to do with the case.Published: October 28, 2012 WEATHERFORD — Custer County investigators Saturday questioned a Weatherford man they hoped would help them track down a missing teenage girl believed to have been sold into human trafficking.Unfortunately, the tip that led deputies to Gilberto Paz, 37, may have been a false one, said Custer County Sheriff Bruce Peoples.
“We're still working on it, but we're not finding any connection with him at all so far,” Peoples said Saturday evening, about four hours after Paz showed up at a Weatherford home and was taken into custody. Paz was reported Friday as a person of interest in the disappearance of Jaray Mickell Wilson, 16, of Weatherford, who was last seen Oct. 15. Peoples told The Oklahoman investigators sought to question Paz because “his name kept coming up” during interviews with Wilson's friends and acquaintances. Paz remained in custody Saturday on a weapons complaint, the sheriff said. He said speculation that Wilson was sold into human trafficking came from the same sources, and that investigators can't rule out that the teen ran away.

Family Of Missing Weatherford Girl Pleads For Safe Return Posted: Oct 27, 2012 11:06 PM CDT Updated: Oct 28, 2012 11:17 AM CDTWEATHERFORD, Oklahoma - The family of a missing 16-year-old girl spoke out hoping someone spots their only daughter and reports it to police. The family has covered hundreds of miles over the last few days posting flyers of JaRay Wilson all over the state. Wilson was last heard from on Oct. 14. Jara Wilson, JaRay's mom, said her daughter left home three weeks ago because she was unhappy with her curfew. While she was gone, she stayed in contact with her family and friends for about a week. Then all communication stopped about two weeks ago.The Custer County Sheriff's Office said they were continuing to investigate the girl's disappearance, though they did not have much in the sense of leads on Saturday. "They don't really have anything. I mean it's disappeared. Just there's nothing. Someone has to know where she is. Somebody knows. She can't just disappear off the face of the earth where you're 16 years old by yourself. You just can't," explained the Wilson's. "I hope no parent ever has to deal with what we're going through what we're dealing with. You just have to go on, you know, it's just, you have your moments. But you just have to keep on going for her, we have to find her," added her mother. On Saturday, Custer County Deputies questioned 37-year-old Gilberto Paz. The sheriff said Paz maintained he had not seen Wilson recently, but authorities said they believed Wilson was being held against her will or forced into human trafficking. Saturday night Paz was booked into jail on a concealed weapons charge. The sheriff said Paz had a screwdriver on him.
Wilson's parents said their daughter no longer had three piercings under the lower lip, but did have two new piercings above the upper lip. They also said her natural hair color was blonde, though it had been dyed dark. Anyone with information should contact their local law enforcement agency immediately. www.newson6.com/story/19934301/family-of-missing-weatherford-girl-pleads-for-safe-return

Investigators questioned the 37-year-old about Wilson's disappearance on Saturday. He told police he had not recently seen the teenager, however, deputies arrested him Saturday night on a concealed weapons charge.Authorities believe Wilson may have been sold into a sex trafficking ring. The 16-year-old hasn't been heard from since October 14. However, at Weatherford high school, rumors spread that the search for Wilson was over. The frustration builds as rumors spread the search was over for JaRay Wilson. That couldn't be farther from the truth for her parents, Jara and Rodney, who work around the clock, searching for their daughter. Custer County Sheriff Bruce Peoples announced their "person-of-interest" passed an Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics polygraph test at the county jail, a setback for investigators who continue following numerous tips about Wilson.
Wilson's parents said they won't stop looking for their daughter. Anyone with information on Wilson's whereabouts should contact their local law enforcement agency. Social Networking Site Had Profiles Of Missing Weatherford Teen, Carina SaundersPosted: Oct 31, 2012 10:27 PM CDT Updated: Nov 01, 2012 7:31 AM CDTOKLAHOMA CITY - A social networking site has police looking into what they call a disturbing coincidence. Carina Saunders and Jaray Wilson, who both went missing and may have links to human trafficking, both had profiles on meetme.com this week. Both profiles claimed they were older than their actual age. Meetme.com is a social networking site with virtual games. News 9 searched around the site and found you can find and flirt with friends by sex and age. There are sexually suggestive messages and pleas for help from minors. You can buy people and be sold. You can play games, reconnect with friends or hook up by accepting money and dates. Carina Saunders' troubled life and scary death have plagued Oklahomans for a year now; her 19-year-old body found dismembered last fall.Investigator say she may have been connected to drugs and human trafficking. Saunders died last year and her is case still unsolved, but until Tuesday she had an active profile on meetme.com, and so did missing 16-year-old Jaray Wilson.
"I'm concerned that these young girls are on the internet and sites without any oversight," said Debra Forshee with Oklahoma Youth Services. "A human trafficker can groom his prey online for several months." The site was founded as myyearbook.com in 2005. Six months ago it was rebranded and renamed.
"These types of sites these social networking sites crop up they leave the internet they crop again," Forshee said. When News 9 inquired about the website and a possible connection, Saunders and Wilson's profiles were removed. "It is somewhat alarming. It makes you question about the site," Director of the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics Darrell Weaver said. Weaver pointed out that many predators lure behind computers and parents should safeguard kids, not websites. The agency hadn't investigated any complaints about the site, at this writing. Agents will investigate any possible connection and are working with local police departments to solve the Saunders and Wilson cases. www.news9.com/story/19970302/social-networking-site-had-profiles-of-missing-weatherford-teen-carina-saunders

Persons of Interest in Disappearance Of Teen Arrested In OKC Murder CasePosted: Nov 21, 2012 1:37 PM CST Updated: Nov 21, 2012 6:01 PM CSTOKLAHOMA CITY - Two men considered persons of interest in a Weatherford teen's disappearance have been arrested in an Oklahoma City homicide investigation. Authorities arrested Curtis Southerland and Gilberto Paz in Custer County Tuesday afternoon. Both are being held on complaints of murder and attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon in a September homicide. Police found 23-year-old Jonathan Patton's body inside a home near SE 134th and Choctaw Road in Oklahoma City on September 10. The Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics' Human Trafficking Unit, the Custer County Sheriff's Office, working with Oklahoma City police developed information regarding the homicide while investigating the disappearance of JaRay Wilson of Weatherford. That information stemmed from a potential witness, who revealed to investigators that Paz and Southerland went to a home near SE 134 and Choctaw to rob the homeowner, but wound up shooting and killing Patton instead.
The OBN tells News 9 that both Paz and Southerland are considered persons of interest in Wilson's disappearance, but neither are being held on complaints or charges related to the disappearance. www.newson6.com/story/20159732/persons-of-interest-in-teens-disappearance-arrested-in-okc-murder-case

Man originally sought in connection with JaRay Wilson missing teen case, charged with murder December 2, 201212/2/2012 – OKC, OK — A man originally sought by police in connection with a missing teen from Weatherford, feared sold into human sex trafficking, has been arrested for murder in an unrelated case.JohnTV began reporting on the case of missing and endangered 16-year-old JaRay Wilson back in October – 12 days after she was last seen. JohnTV’s Brian Bates and No Boundaries Int’l teamed up to organize volunteers and distribute missing fliers in Oklahoma City. According to investigators, soon after Wilson was reported missing, Gilberto Paz, 37, was announced as a person of interest in the case. Information given to police indicated that Wilson knew Paz and that she may have possibly owned him or his associates money and that Paz had ties to human sex trafficking in Oklahoma City. Paz was eventually located by investigators and reportedly passed a polygraph examination. However, Paz remained a person of interest and members of the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics (OBN) Human Trafficking Unit have been in Weatherford investigating leads for several weeks. While conducting their investigation, OBN detectives, along with other area law enforcement, developed leads in the September 10, 2012 homicide of Jonathon Kyle Patton in far southeast Oklahoma County. According to a probable cause affidavit (see below) filed in Cleveland County, a Stacy Buckmaster told investigators of her involvement with Paz and another man in a robbery of a drug dealer gone bad – that resulted in the death of Patton.
Paz, Curtis Southerland, and Buckmaster, have now all been arrested on warrants for Patton’s murder. johntv.com/man-originally-sought-in-connection-with-jaray-wilson-missing-teen-case-charged-with-murder/

Prostitution bust renews hope in search for JaRay Wilson Posted: Jul 29, 2013 8:30 PM CDT Updated: Aug 05, 2013 8:30 PM CDTThe FBI led a nationwide effort over the weekend, agents rescued more than 100 children from forced prostitution, according to investigators. This has renewed hope for the family of JaRay Wilson, a teenage girl missing from Weatherford, Oklahoma. "Some people are like, did you hear about that?... Do you think maybe she was one of the kids they found?" said Jara Wilson, JaRay's mother. She's lead a huge effort to find her missing daughter. Authorities believe Jaray may have been sold into human trafficking. Wilson said she personally gets about two tips a week about her daughter, "We follow every tip we get because you never know when that one tip is going to be the tip," Wilson said. Authorities do not believe JaRay is one of the victims found from the recent nationwide bust, but they believe it could lead to a break in the case, as each victim and suspect will be interviewed, "If they are aware of JaRay Wilson, if they know anything about the case," Mark Woodward from the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics said. OBN's Human Trafficking division is helping in the search for JaRay. Woodward said this bust will shine a light on an often undetected problem in Oklahoma, "We have heard from members inside drug cartels that they are making more money trafficking humans than trafficking drugs," Woodward said. They are still actively searching for JaRay, anyone with information is encouraged to contact their human trafficking hotline at (855) 617-2288. www.okcfox.com/story/22961449/prostitution-bust-renews-hope-for-jaray-wilson
