August 19, 2014, 5:28 PM Police, volunteers search for missing Ind. motherBOONVILLE, Ind. -- Officials and volunteers are searching for a missing Indiana mother last seen early Friday, according to police. Kristy Kelley, 27, vanished around 1:30 Friday morning after leaving a VFW Post in Boonville, about 175 miles southwest of Indianapolis, according to police and the Evansville Courier Press. She hasn't reported to work or been in touch with friends or family since she disappeared, according to a Warrick County Sheriff's Office statement. She's believed to be in a silver 2003 Nissan Xterra with an Indiana license plate SZF858. Kelley was last seen wearing a white and black horizontal striped, sleeveless shirt, blue jean shorts and sandals. Hundreds of volunteers have organized search parties in an effort to locate her, reports the paper. Authorities say they have no evidence to suggest Kelley's case may be linked to the disappearance of a woman from Evansville, about 20 miles away, reports the Courier-Press. Joelle Lockwood, 30, was reported missing last month. Lockwood is described as five feet, three inches tall and 125 pounds with brown eyes and brown hair. She may be driving a silver Chevy Malibu with Indiana license plate 211TYC. There's no indication of foul play in either woman's disappearance, reports the paper. Anyone with information should call the Warrick County Sheriff's Office at 812-897-6180.www.cbsnews.com/news/police-volunteers-search-for-missing-indiana-mother/

Indiana police look for connection in disappearance of 2 young moms Kristy Kelley, 27, and Joelle Lockwood, 30, went missing in southwestern Indiana about 18 miles apart while wearing tank tops and blue jean shorts. Law enforcement and their local communities are working hard to find the missing women.
Hundreds of people attended a candlelight vigil Wednesday evening for two young mothers who went missing in southwestern Indiana within weeks of each other. The emotional crowd gathered before sunset outside the Warrick County Courthouse in Boonville and kept the candles burning into the night. Local authorities are investigating a possible link between the disappearances of Kristy Kelley and Joelle Lockwood. "There are some striking similarities, enough that we are keeping in daily contact with the investigators from Warrick County," Sgt. Jason Cullum of the Evansville Police Department told the Daily News. "We are sharing our information with them and they are sharing theirs with us." Kristy Kelley, a 27-year-old mother-of-two, vanished after driving away from a veterans lodge in her home city of Boonville in a Silver 2003 Nissan Xterra about 1:30 a.m. on Aug. 15. Joelle Lockwood, a 30-year-old mother-of-two, was last seen at the intersection of Park and Florida St. in Evansville on July 9. She was intoxicated at the time and called for a ride that never arrived, police said. Both were wearing tank tops and blue jean shorts when they disappeared about 18 miles apart. A candlelight vigil was held outside the Warrick County Courthouse on Wednesday in Boonville for the missing women. HELP FIND JOELLE VIA FACEBOOK A candlelight vigil was held outside the Warrick County Courthouse on Wednesday in Boonville for the missing women. It is not clear what happened to either woman but they resemble one another. "There have been cases across the country where the person who was committing the crimes appeared to be picking people based on certain characteristics," Cullum said. The investigations are being conducted independently. But the Evansville Police Department will start working hand in hand if a key piece of evidence demonstrates that the disappearances are in fact connected. Body of Missing Indiana Mother Kristy Kelley Found Kristy Kelley, the Indiana woman who vanished on Aug. 15 after a night out with friends, has been found. According to police in Warrick County, sonar equipment used by an independent search team found the 27-year-old mom's 2003 Nissan Xterra in a lake near her home. Kelley's body was still inside. Her death has been ruled as an accidental drowning; there is no indication of any criminal involvement.
Kelly's father, Todd Scales, shared the grim news on the Help Find Kristy Kelley Facebook page. "As much as I hate to inform you all, Kristy's car was found this afternoon in a body of water," he wrote Tuesday night. "The vehicle was lifted by crane to preserve it. They believe it to be Kristy who is inside the vehicle at this time. We thank you all for your prayers." Warrick County Sheriff Brett Kruse also released a statement about Kelley's death. "The Kristy Kelley Missing Person case is coming to a close," he said. "Not the outcome that anyone wanted, but hopefully will bring some closure and some peace to her family. Our prayers go out to them." www.people.com/article/missing-indiana-mom-kristy-kelley-found-dead
